Child safety warning
Babies and young children can become entangled (which may lead to strangulation) by the loops formed in pull cords and chains that operate some types of internal window blinds and corded curtain tracks.
To avoid this danger keep all cords and chains out of reach of babies and young children and ensure cots, beds, highchairs, playpens and other furniture are kept away from windows that have these types of blinds or curtain tracks fitted.
Legislation update and more information
In early 2014 the standards regarding the manufacture, supply and professional fitting of internal window blinds changed significantly. It is now illegal to supply or fit an internal blind which does not comply with the child safety requirements of BS EN 13120:2009+A1:2004.
